# Trade

Banknotes are the money that spends in Ashen County. Jobs pay in notes. Kevin buys what you scavenge. Other players buy what you list.

Kevin keeps the Ashen Traders stall at the Birchport market, marked on your map. Hostile and Exiled standing closes his counter.

## Kevin's prices

What you pay him, and what he pays you, follows your Ashen standing. Neutral is the plain rate: you pay full price, and he pays you a fifth of an item's base value. Wary is worse. Allied is best.

| Standing | You pay | He pays you |
| -------- | ------- | ----------- |
| Wary     | 200%    | 10%         |
| Neutral  | 100%    | 20%         |
| Warm     | 95%     | 25%         |
| Friendly | 90%     | 30%         |
| Allied   | 80%     | 40%         |

Buying from him and selling to him both raise Ashen standing, a little per note. Bartering skill nudges the rate in your favor.

The market also rents a safe deposit box for 1,000 notes. Gear in the box is not on your body when you die.

## The player board

The market board is where survivors list goods for each other. Buyers pay in notes. A listing stays up for 168 hours (seven days). If it does not sell, the goods wait at the desk for you to collect.

The cut comes out of the sale, not when you post. Allied pays no cut.

| Standing | Cut | Listings at once |
| -------- | --- | ---------------- |
| Wary     | 20% | 1                |
| Neutral  | 15% | 5                |
| Warm     | 10% | 10               |
| Friendly | 5%  | 20               |
| Allied   | 0%  | 30               |

Hostile and Exiled standing cannot list.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://deadtiles.gitbook.io/deadtiles-docs/money/trade.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
